Ajinomoto Foods, NA is going direct in the California market!  We are looking for three Key Account Managers in the Northern California market to sell our tasty and innovative items to the food service industry.  Come join a great company and start your career where you will love your job! Position Summary: To assist in establishing and executing strategic and tactical direction of the assigned territory and customers, resulting in achievement of applicable sales and profit goals while staying within expense budgets.



  • Obtain Food Service volume goals in assigned markets and customers
  • Selling of company products and programs to Food Service customers. Establishing personal relationships with distributors and key customers
  • Planning market business strategies to achieve pillar goals in the following areas
    • Sales budget
    • Branded Products Budget
    • Tier 1 Item Budget
    • Regional Chains Budget
  • Target list of mutually agreed upon LLO accounts to be handled independently by candidate
  • Minimum 15 quality calls per week
  • Develop strong relationships to successfully achieve sales goals
  • Training distributors in the features and benefits of products and services, and introducing new product programs to the market.
  • Participate in market blitzes designed to sell designated Ajinomoto items to key accounts for selected distributors
  • As directed by DSM, develop a productive food show booth design and have ability to offer solutions and sell cases to operators in a food show selling environment
  • Communication
    • Weekly Itinerary
    • Weekly catch up calls
    • Monthly Call Report


  • Minimum of 3+ years of Food Service experience preferred, especially as it relates to the interaction between distributors and operators or a bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing from a four year accredited university.
  • Culinary or broker/direct sales experience is a must
  • Ability to be organized and work within a broad range of functional areas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and field sales.
  • Ability to work well in a “team” environment. Proficient skills in written and oral communications, presentation skills and personal computing (Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Power Point).
  • Position requires stamina and ability to handle multiple tasks, make decisions and at times work with ambiguous situations. Must be able to work under time constraints.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability and focus to work from a remote office location.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
