  • Overview

    The Production Scheduler is responsible for developing the finite factory production schedule to satisfy customer demand while maintaining effective inventory levels and maximizing factory efficiency and resources. Essential functions of this role include responsibility for providing a daily, weekly, and monthly production plan consistent with the plant capacity and customer requirements. Strong collaboration with Operations, Corporate Master Planning, and Raw Material and Packaging Buyers will be critical to meeting business goals.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with Master Planning and operations to generate a production schedule that aligns with the business forecast, sales demand and current finished goods inventory while maximizing production efficiency and labor resources.
    • Organize production schedule by studying work-order specifications, current schedules, and availability of equipment, materials and employees.
    • Analyze and identify risks associated with the options built into the Master Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times.
    • Publish production schedules after identifying products, equipment, sequence, completion dates, etc.
    • Monitor production by analyzing attainment reports, cost variance reports, and production downtime to compare completion to schedule.
    • Resolves scheduling issues by collecting and analyzing information and then coordinating solutions.
    • Collaborate with Buyers to confirm material procurement aligns with production schedule demands
    • Work with the operations management to ensure capacities are accurately represented in the system.
    • Plan and direct production and inventory control for operations to ensure customer commitments and inventory objectives are met
    • Keep the forecast and work orders up to date to provide clear information in the MRP
    • Communicate status updates regarding the forecast and resulting production schedule changes to Operations Leadership on a continuous basis
    • Relay relevant information to management regarding material shortages, potential schedule interruptions, and possible equipment maintenance that would affect a smooth and timely production input
    • Perform all other work as required by the Company

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma and 3-5 years in production or scheduling experience in a USDA food manufacturing facility preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study strongly preferred.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
    • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and activities
    • Strong Analytical and abstract reasoning skills
    • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to problems involving several variables in standardized and unstandardized situations
    • Strong computer skills including JDE, Microsoft Outlook and Office, specifically Microsoft Excel
    • Must be willing to travel as business needs require.
