  • Overview

    Under the direction of the Operations Director. This position will perform troubleshooting and repair, and provide technical support for all phases of the operation. The position is a technical career position in Ajinomoto Foods, Inc. This position requires proficiency in multiple skill clusters including a thorough understanding of fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes. The ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of management and operations is required.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Maintain and perform preventative maintenance activities on all assigned systems/equipment.
    • Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records and take regular system readings.
    • Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments.
    • Is engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing equipment.
    • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible and accurate format, and completed with required information.
    • Memorialize Machinery operations, creating SOP’s, Training Materials, and PM work orders.
    • Organize and provide basic Automation training sessions to Maintenance and Operations personnel.
    • Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP’s.
    • Assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory by reporting low supply levels to Supervisor.
    • Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes. 
    • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
    • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
    • Follow all required work safe practices, including lockout-tag out requirements and wearing of all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
    • Work in extremely cold environment of -10 to -28 Fahrenheit with the appropriate usage of all required PPE
    • Perform all other work as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • 3-5+ years’ experience in a Mechanical position in an industrial environment.
    • Training beyond high school including either an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology or closely related technical field preferred, or a combination of education and experience which may include skilled trade programs, military training or other training as applicable
    • Must have a working knowledge of Windows based software, such as Microsoft Excel and Word, and computerized maintenance management system.
    • The ability to read and understand schematics and blue prints
    • Root cause & troubleshooting skills are a must.
    • Must have working knowledge of basic hand and power tools.and lock out tag out processes and procedures
    • Knowledge in the theory and application of electronic devices such as industrial semi­ conductors, solid state drives, and industrial control systems; experience in the operation of PLC systems and control and data collection instrumentation and transducers
    • Working knowledge and skills in tools and components used in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, clutches belts, and seals; ability to troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems
    • Possession of one or more of the skills is a plus - Basic Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) skills necessary to understand the operation and interfacing characteristics of microprocessors; experience in PLC operation to include basic system configuration and hardware, relay equivalent instructions, timers/counters, data manipulation, data communications and advanced programming commands, as well as interfacing, troubleshooting and application and program development; demonstrated skills or training in electronic motor drive technologies including servo- motors, encoders, tachometers, electronic and mechanical brakes and clutches, closed loop systems, DC servo, AC variable frequency, AC servo and stepper systems.
    • Must be able to communicate both verbally and written; high level critical thinking, and problem-solving Certification: Certifications in any technical field or techniques is a plus
    • Solid communication skills
    • Must have ability to train others
