Multi-functional role crossing boundaries of traditional procurement, contract manufacturing, and facility materials management execution.

Within the Procurement\Operations\Materials Management perspective, this position is responsible for establishing and monitoring execution of supply chain best practices within AFNA operating facilities and associated raw/packaging 3PL locations; including MRP, procurement, and inventory control; specifically ABC stratification, cycle counting, and root cause analysis.

Within the contract manufacturing area, responsible for selection, monitoring, and continuous improvement of selected manufacturing partners; including compliance with established food safety/quality assurance standards, as well as establishment and attainment of KPI’s.

Plant Procurement Lead:

• Define and maintain A,B,C inventory stratification at AFNA facilities
• Utilize AFNA ERP/JD Edwards to maintain and improve the inventory practices in AFNA facilities, assuming accountability for:
  • Development of cycle counting and associated processes
  • Inventory accuracy at AFNA Plant facilities and outside 3PL warehousing partners – for Raw & Package materials only.
  • Develop Standard Operating Practices for receipt and depletion of inventory positions
  • Root cause analysis for errors or misalignment
• Establish and maintain uniform MRP practices across all AFNA facilities, monitoring effectiveness and compliance with Standard Operating Practices
• Responsible for insuring facility procurement personnel execute against defined HQ policies and procedures
• Institute best practices for order releases (e.g. considering volume requirements, MOQ, inventory level, and demand planning cycle)
• Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for facility personnel in all procurement, MRP, and inventory related activities

Contract Manufacturing Manager

• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships which include communicating objectives, monitoring supplier performance and resolving business issues to assure it is beneficial to both parties
• Key contact in New Product Introductions and discontinuation
• Work with AFNA Master Planning Group to review forward production requirements and assure that forward requirement outlook is issued to all members of contract manufacturing group.
• Develop and maintain a database of all potential suppliers of products required by AFNA. This includes understanding capabilities, capacity availability, and plans on how additional capacity if required can be secured.
• Responsible for continuous evaluation of supplier performance for regulatory compliance, product quality and supply continuity.
• Assemble all key performance indicators (KPI) tracking information for monitoring and drive adherence to company and contract manufacturing contractual commitments, obligations and processes.

• Responsible for inventory management in any Contract Manufacturers in which AFNA is the supplier of materials. This can include understanding any unique materials utilized at suppliers which item is produced specifically for AFNA.

• Manage day-to-day operations issues that arise in which may impact supply capabilities.

• Responsible for budget adherence and variances incurred within the Contract Manufacturing group. This includes the establishment of all product costing and standards development for budgeting and new product development processes

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Food Science, Materials or related field, or equivalent experience.
• C.P.M. / C.P.S.M. beneficial.
• 5 years purchasing experience in a packaged goods industry including experience in manufacturing environment, preferably food related.
• Demonstrated experience in management of multi-site environment.
• Background in supplier development and management of national contracts.
• Advanced knowledge of procurement, supply chain, operations, and negotiation.
• Experienced in cross-functional teams and consensus building.
• Must be able to direct complex multiple activities and projects, providing appropriate balance of personnel and other resources to meet deliverables in timely fashion.
• Knowledge and experience in utilization of a ERP Package environment to drive process improvements and enhancements
• Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
• Ability to utilize computer tools (spreadsheet, database mgmt., word processing) effectively.
• Operational process mapping capabilities.
