  • Overview

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. They must have experience in negotiating material contracts and experience with food and packaging buying. They should have a good understanding of material inventory accounting and a familiarity with JDE and be proficient in Microsoft Office.  A general interest and or experience in food related areas a plus.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the updating information and forecasts on a monthly basis into the proper format in preparation for review by purchasing staff and supply chain controller / PPV forecast
    • Responsible for aging inventory review and disposition
    • Assist in the procurement process in a support role for the co-packers as needed
    • Assist and assemble month end reporting PPV / Cost Savings Updates
    • Responsible for maintaining and updating the contract data base / forward coverage and contract balances
    • Responsible for reviewing contract balances on a monthly basis versus updated demand forecasted requirements
    • Responsible for cost savings driven by reviewing vendor pricing and freight differentials.
    • Work with the Corporate Purchasing / Supply Chain teams on cost savings and synergy improvement programs such as alternative vendor or raw and packaging material opportunities.
    • Review the MRP reports with scheduling and attend all appropriate meetings
    • Assist in the budget process , raw and packaging material standards review and budget preparation
    • Be adept at crisis management and have excellent multi-tasking skills when issues arise involving any of the materials used in production at plants.
    • Act as a key contact between all plant personnel
    • Assist R & D in new material procurement and transferring raw and packaging materials from plant to plant as formulas and production are shifted
    • Assist in the sample form process, keeping all forms updated and tracking progress in this area
    • Assist in development and maintenance of the vendor / ingredient library on the portal.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; with a concentration in business or math a plus; or three to five years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to work in a very fast paced environment. Ability to multi-task, must have great communication skills and during a crisis, this person needs to be decisive with a sense of urgency.
