  • Overview

    Enforce policies, procedures and controls to assure that all products are prepared according to the Company and USDA standards. Recommends improvements of technical issues.

    Responsibilities

    • Daily test and sampling of products in process and finished items to evaluate product quality and safety.
    • Daily processing and packaging process reviews.
    • Pre-operational and Operational sanitation plant inspection.
    • Perform quality audits.
    • Daily review/reconciliation of all QA/QC reports, including HACCP and Net Wt. reporting compliance.
    • Check equipment calibration: thermometers, etc.
    • Interface with the USDA inspectors: Report immediately any discrepancies. Recommend corrective actions. Recommend preventive measures.
    • During any change to new packaging or products, review specifications for completeness, review packaging for acceptability and verify from start up that everything is working in conformance.
    • Assist in plant testing.
    • Assist in product withdrawal practice.
    • Recommend and enforce corrective and preventive measures to improve plant sanitation, employee hygienic practices and product safety and standards.
    • Ensure conformance to specifications.
    • Assist the QA Manager in continuous improvement efforts and follow up on corrective action implementation.
    • Compile information and create reports.
    • Ensure that all department personnel are using proper procedures, work instructions, forms, tools and equipment established for the jobs they perform.
    • Keep QA Manager informed about problems and opportunities for improvement
    • Maintain and improve upon existing products and QC systems.
    • Create and maintain accurate inspections files and prepare reports summarizing inspection results.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to handle multiple tasks;
    • Ability to work in a team environment; excellent communication skill.  
    • Ability to use best judgement in absence of Department Supervisor or Manager                     
    • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Preferred Bilingual but not necessary.
    • Perform duties with minimum supervision.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, instructions, policies and procedures manuals.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups employees of organization.
    • Computer skills: Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint.
    • Ability to coordinate with, R&D, Purchasing, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, etc., products, process and controls implementation.
    • Ability to enforce processes and controls conformance. Ability to evaluate and report product and process quality.
    • Ability to recommend and implement product, process and sanitation improvements.
    • Ability to develop and implement process controls for product safety and quality.
