  • Overview

    Accountable for planning, directing, coordinating and managing the employees work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products. This includes supervision of Production Supervisors, Leads and Production line workers. These duties are to be performed in accordance with established occupational safety, food safety and quality, cost, and quantity specifications. The individual in this role must be comfortable working proactively and independently in a fast paced environment that is subject to long hours (routinely 10+ hours). Performs the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in raw material, processing, production, and packing functions. Responsible for all managerial activities associated with producing quality frozen Asian foods, including employee relations, safety consciousness, and USDA requirements.


    • In conjunction with the Production Manager to establish aggressive manufacturing goals and controls which are consistent with company objectives.
    • With the collaboration of the Production Manager’s help to recommend and establish work practices and procedures for designated production areas
    • Manage, guide, train, support and develop individuals reporting directly to him/her
    • Troubleshoot operational problems using personal experience and other department’s resources as needed
    • Forecast manpower, equipment and supplies needed for projects, objectives and goals
    • Responsible for the successful management and operation of processing and/or packaging operations. (AM or PM shifts)
    • Accountable for the overseeing of training with regards to procedures, methods, policy, equipment operation, new products, GMP’s and safe working practices
    • Responsible for the manufacture of safe, wholesome, quality products in the most cost effective manner available
    • Responsible for the quantity and quality of all products produced
    • Indirect responsibility for quality and food safety costs and financial benefits to Ajinomoto Foods North America, INC. through compliance to specifications, regulatory performance and reduced customer complaints
    • Other duties as assigned



    • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university or related field(s) or 2-3 years of experience in production or related experience in a USDA food manufacturing facility
    • Ability to build teams, lead cross functional groups, and drive performance
    • Must have skills in development and implementation of CI training
    • Basic understanding of Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, and other CI tools
    • Experience with computer application systems related to inventory, distribution, shipping or receiving, especially JDE. Must have advanced skills in Microsoft Office components
    • Excellent management, organization skills, and negotiating skills.
    • Self-starter who is able to make changes and improve processes.

    • Language Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    • Presentation Skills – ability to make clear, concise and convincing business presentations
    • Analytical – ability to independently perform, mentor and manage others in conducting complex technical analysis of manufacturing data, statistical process control (SPC) and supplier performance
    • Leadership – ability to act as team leader for special task assignments; providing leadership in development of skills and knowledge for team members; demonstrated ability to develop subordinates by driving, delegating, supporting, coaching, and empowering
    • Mentoring – ability to mentor other team members in technical knowledge and management skills
    • Communication Skills – excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills. Bi-lingual (English/Chinese or English/Spanish) a plus
    • Organizational Skills – excellent people and organizational skills
    • Judgment/Decision Making – ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate business judgement and recommendations independent of supervisor
    • Computer Skills – working knowledge of Microsoft based software, including Excel, Word and Outlook. JDE experience a plus
    • Other – ability to elicit internal and external support; good interpersonal skills; ability to work under pressure and short time lines, prioritizing multiple projects with various simultaneous deadlines, as well as attention to detail with accuracy

    Position Specific Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


    • Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record
    • Fluency in English (Written and Verbal) – required. Bi-lingual (English/Chinese or English/Spanish) a plus

    • Capable of 24-hour, 7-day a week, emergency work assignments
