  • Overview

    Responsible for management of specific category (ies) within the Ajinomoto Windsor portfolio, including participation as part of the supplier selection and negotiation team, as well as contract definition. Expected to foster a “single voice” mentality across all Windsor North America locations, as well as support and enforce all established company policies.

    Responsibilities

    • Generate, and insure appropriate execution of MRP from an HQ level with hands-on assistance at the facility level.
    • Front line liaison between supply base, plant SCM personnel, and HQ SCM.
    • Coordinate EOQ strategy with plants, including inventory requirements, contractual agreements, and/or blanket orders.
    • Responsible for category SKU and supplier rationalization efforts.
    • Support new product launches, including project management, as well as representing procurement department at team meetings.
    • Support development of procurement strategy to reduce transaction costs and inventory levels.
    • Order management of category, including monitoring of volume and price commitments, renewal strategy, and compliance with T’s & C’s.
    • Direct involvement and coordination of day to day interaction between the supply-base, various HQ teams (ex: transportation, finance, SCM) and/or facility interaction.
    • At point for problem resolution, and corrective action(s); involving price, delivery, lead time, warehousing, etc… for product category.
    • Participate in setting the strategic direction for the department/category, as well as convey and contribute to the tactical execution both at HQ and the facilities.
    • At point for the expediting process in responsible category, as well as coordinating facility involvement.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • C.P.M. / C.P.S.M. beneficial.
    • 5 years purchasing experience in a packaged goods industry, preferably food related.
    • Demonstrated experience in procurement for multi-site environment.
    • Background in supplier development and management of national contracts.

    Knowledge and Skill Level:

    • Experience in supply chain/procurement methodology for cost reduction.
    • Knowledge of sourcing strategies.
    • Competent in supplier performance criteria and measurement.
    • Able to work on cross-functional teams and build consensus.
    • Ability to process large volumes of information and summarize/act accordingly.
    • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
    • Ability to utilize computer tools (spreadsheet, database mgmt., word processing) effectively.

    Scope of Job:

    • Responsibility for direction of ~$50-100 million in annual purchase activity. May manage 1 or more direct staff reports.
    • Must be a leader, able to coordinate and/or influence activities of factory plant purchasing/material managers.
    • Primary internal contacts include R & D, QA, accounting, plant personnel.
    • External contacts include suppliers, customers, professional and trade associations.
    • Travel is estimated at 15%.
